Thorpe Park - I'm a Celebrity
The newest living maze attraction at Thorpe Park, based on the popular reality TV show I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here, opened in March 2015.
It was a foray into new areas for me and my colleagues, exploring the world of pneumatics, UDP cross platform synchronisation and permanent stage type effects. I was responsible for media creation, in video effects and audio for the maze.
Everything from triggered audio via IR beam break sensors to multi-room races with countdowns had to be hand crafted in such a way that they could work reliably all day, every day.
Each zone of the maze has it's own sound. Night time jungle, bridge creaks, telephone ringing and more. These are all hosted and powered in the rack area, allowing easy centralised control.
The video content for screens is powered by Brightsign Digital Signage players. These units work consistently and allow GPIO and Network output. This means that it can control almost any external system.
Thorpe Park | I'm a Celebrity - Cruelty Towers
The original warning video for the final rooms of the I'm a Celebrity Maze. Replaced before opening with an in house video.
The video presented by Ant & Dec is played by the host. Throughout the video, various triggered pneumatic effects surprise the guests by blasting their ankles, poking their rears and causing crates to jump in the air.
